Finnish Rugby Federation hosts two Youth National Teams for young male players. U20 team provides a basis of further development for the young Finnish talents. In addition the U20s is targeted to serve as a stepping stone into the Men’s National Team. U17 team is the latest addition in Finnish National Team family. U17s is the first step for young males between 15 and 17 years into the National Team system. The selected players have a chance to improve their skills among the best young players in Finland.
In 2009 the U20s or “Wolverines” played their first tournament in the European Cup for the first time ever. The Wolverines lost by narrow margin to much higher ranked Lithuanian team. U20 Team Finland has a lot of potential players from which the Men’s National Team will profit in the near future. U20 team is playing both 15′s and 7′s rugby.
