The Women’s 15′s spent last week in Sweden playing games against the Netherlands and Russia, whilst results didn’t go the way hoped, the experience and learning curve was no doubt vital.

Women’s /’s squad announced

Womens 7s national team selection camp was held in Eerikkilä sports institute 21.-22.4. The team was of 12 and 3 reserves was selected by the player performances on the camp and previously. All 15 players will attend the coming domestic camps. I was happy to see development in players decision making, ball control and contact technique and support play. Unfortunately some players chose not to participate in 7s this year due personal reasons. Yet the selection between the 12 players and 3 reserves was a close call.

National teams schedule this summer: domestic camp 12.-13.5., Amsterdam 7s 19.-20.5. and domestic camp 2.-3.6. EC-tournament and 2013 RWC qualifying (1st stage) group B is held in Belgium 9.-10.6. Top 2 of the tournament will continue to the 2nd stage held in Moscow 30.6.-1.7. In the first stage there are also Scotland, Ireland and Wales which will add interest both in group A and B. Finland will face Ireland in the pool stage and possibly Scotland later in the tournament. The pools can be found here:

Junior Rugby training camp to be held in Tampere

Tampere Rugby Club juniors are inviting all SRL junior players to Tampere for contact workshops &
a mini-tournament, to be held on Sunday 25th March. Training commences at
11:00 (on the pitch, kit on!) workshops will run till 13:30, when we break
for a light lunch & lecture and return for another session of brutal
action, till about 16:00.

The event will take place at Nääshalli budo centre, where we have booked a
nice 30x10m judo hall for the occasion… a cracking opportunity to develop
your breakdown hunting, ruck defence & set piece skills, with players from
your own age group and skill level..and also to meet the lads whom will be
facing in the upcoming junior competition!

We are hoping for a big turnout, and promise to do our very best to make
the day fun, good educational value and ‘worth your trip’!

The men’s national team will be using Powerade at all their official training camps and games.

The SRL would like to thank all those that have purchased items from the SRL store over this past year.
Check out the store in the new year to find new items, previously unseen.

In 2010 the SRL became VAT registered, which changed slightly the way things are done in regards to kit sales, notably the need to issue an invoice for every purchase. But this only helps to make the SRL a more professional engaged entity.

Unfortunately, due to various price increases in fuel surcharges, cotton and manufacturer price increases, this in turn means that the SRL will have to increase some of it’s prices.
These will be as modest as possible so that we can still offer you the quality products we have at the best possible price.
